I am writing a blog post after a very long time. I am writing about something which has really left me sad for a very very long time now. I have already written a post on how we have neglected and failed to show respect to our soldiers. But I couldn’t help writing one again after what has happened a few days back.

Its more than a week now since that brutal attack by Maoists took place at Chattisgarh. The way the country has responded to the attack is really sad. The attacks claimed nearly 80 precious lives and the entire nation moved on as if nothing has happened at all. All the News Channels were busy in telecasting the news of an Indian girl girl marrying a Pakistani boy as if they were fighting out a brave battle by doing so. This attack on people who were really waging a great battle was never a breaking news for them. They just reported it once in a while as if they were doing some favor to someone  by telecasting this news. They were only bothered about the gossips that they were telecasting which obviously would get them money.

Life is considered precious only of people who have enough money to lead an affluent life and not of our jawans who fight their life out everyday to save millions of life which no money or wealth could save. Even during the terror attacks at Mumbai all the media channels were only concentrating on Taj hotel though they were severe attacks in several other places too just because Taj hotel had those precious lives who could afford a stay at a five star hotel.

This is not the first time an attack of this order has happened in India. Every time this has happened we have only counted the numbers for the records and done nothing else at all!! This is JUST another event for us all but for people who have lost their dear ones it is THE event which has changed their lives forever. What has hurt me the most is the compensation that has been offered to the families of these martyrs. The compensation offered to these families would probably be way less than what a cricketer would earn in a single match. Are the lives of these great men who have contributed so much to the nation not even worth the money given to a cricketer  in a cricket match!!?? Karnataka Government announced only 2 lakhs to the family of the martyr from Karnataka who lost his life in the attack. The same government a few days back had announced to grant 10 crores and  2 acres of land to build a memorial for the Kannada superstar Vishnuvaradhan. If we value the works of our people so much why is that we have failed to value the works of our soldiers who lead a tougher life than all of us!  2 lakhs today is earned by an IPL cricketer by just holding 2 “Karbon Kamaal catches”. And we are giving the same amount to our soldiers who slogged their lives out everyday and sacrificed their lives. The lives of these great Jawans are priceless and no money can bring back their lives back. This money is only a symbol of our respect to these great souls.

Hope the day comes soon when we truly realize the worth and pay tribute to thousands of great men who have laid down their lives for the nation and take a pledge to fight out terror so that sacrifices of these great men are not in vain.

Jai Hind!
